Gratitude –┬áthe quality of being thankful; readiness to show appreciation for and to return kindness. It’s an emotion expressing appreciation for what one has.

As I prepare to sit and meditate, gratitude is what comes to mind. My heart feels up with gratefulness for my friends, family, Yoga teachers and Yoga students. For my Colleagues at work who gave me a Xmas present for teaching them Yoga at lunch time, my apartment’s owner who sent me a thank you card with a voucher for looking after his unit, my amazing friends from Sydney who are coming to visit this weekend, my family who are a real safety net and provide me support when I need it. For the universe who seems to really listen to one’s wishes…

Studies show that we can deliberately cultivate gratitude and can increase our well-being and happiness by doing so. It also increases energy, optimism and empathy.
